Google’s new e-reader: the iriver Story HD

Google has announced its plans to launch a Google eBooks-optimized e-reader on July 17. Called the iriver Story HD, the e-book reader is designed to give users easy access to the 3 million free titles Google holds in addition to a few hundred thousand paid titles, with a price and design that is very similar to Amazon’s Kindle.

In classroom C-109 at Cunha Intermediate School in Half Moon Bay, each of the eight science tables has a stack of textbooks and a laptop on it. As part of the 2010 BookServer and the Digital Classroom project, Deborah Cowden has been using technology in both her science and English language development classes for the past year to transform the way her students learn and how she teaches.

- Figures for the first month of the new year show that E-book net sales increased by 115.8% vs January 2010 (from $32.4 Million to $69.9M).
- Adult Hardcover category fell from $55.4M to $49.1M (-11.3%), Adult Paperback dropped from $104.2M to $83.6 (-19.7%) and Adult Mass Market declined from $56.4M to $39.0 (-30.9%)
